This game has continued. She likes to find out if words are even or balanced meaning that an equal amount of the letters are pressed on the keyboard with the left and right hands. It has even grown to where she'll find out sentences and phrases.
Last night Austin ask her about it and said, "The plane stalled in the fog." is a balanced sentence. We were eating at the time and Megan had food in her mouth, but we could see that she was figuring out the sentence to see if he was right-- this doesn't take very long for her. All of a sudden (while she's still chewing) her eyes get big and her eyebrows raise and she starts nodding her head. She was so surprised it really was. (Austin said he hadn't tested it out before). Then later she was disappointed when she realized that she spelled "plane" as "plain"--so it really wasn't a balanced sentence.
Megan also has decided to read all the Newbery Award winning books. There is one for every year since 1922 so she has a lot to read to hit her goal. She wasn't very happy when she finished a book the other day and realized that it was only a Newbery Honor book-- not the winner!
