The girls got dresses in their Easter baskets this year. On Monday after Easter Eve went to birthday party and this is a conversation we had today.
Eve: Avery has a dress like mine.
Me: Like your Easter dress?
Eve: Yeah.
Me: How do you know?
Eve: She wore it to Tabitha's party.
Me: You and Avery wore the same dress to the party?
Eve: No.
Me: Well, you wore your Easter dress to the party.
Eve: Yeah.
Me: So how do you know about Avery's dress?
Eve: She wore it to the party.
Me: You just said that she didn't wear the dress to the party. Did you and Avery wear the same dress to the party?
Eve: (exasperated with me) No, we didn't wear the SAME dress. She wore a dress that LOOKS like mine!
I then had to explain that when someone says they have the same dress, shirt, hairdo, etc--it doesn't mean that they are sharing or wearing one dress together, that it only means that they look the same.
