The school year has finally arrived. Evie started last week on Thursday and Megan starts this Thursday. We've been getting ready for school like everyone else. Shopping for clothes and backpacks, evaluations, open houses, me testing Evie to make sure she didn't forget too many things over the summer and testing Megan so she can prove to her teacher at her evaluation how smart she is.
Eve had her evaluation with her teacher. Afterwards I said, "Your teacher seems really nice, Eve." Eve said, "Yeah, last year my teacher seemed really nice at first too. Then she got not so nice." So Evie isn't ready to make a judgement on the niceness of her teacher just yet.
At the open house Megan met her teacher for the first time. Her teacher asked her if she was excited to start school and Megan said, "Yeah, I've been waiting all my life." Then later on Megan had her evaluation. Megan learned how to read last year while Evie was in Kindergarten and learning. From that point on Megan has loved reading and has done very well. She read for her teacher at the evaluation and her teacher said what a good reader Megan is. Megan said, "That's because I practice reading Dick and Jane books. Do you know who my favorite character is? Jane's my favorite character." Also later she asked her teacher what her favorite color is. Megan was very outgoing at her evaluation which made me happy. Sometimes she puts on a shy act.
They are both excited about school.
