Eve: Senior, Megan: Junior, Claire: 7th.
This year, because of the pandemic and because we are able to, we decided to online schooling for the girls. To make it more pleasant for them, we got laptops, a desk for Claire, and tried to be optimistic about the experience.
I am actually writing this at the end of the 1st term so can write back on our experience for the 1st term. The 1st couple weeks were filled with ambiguity and trying to figure everything out. The girls didn't hear from many of their teachers until a few days into school. Megan didn't hear from her physics teacher until almost 2 weeks in. We've all gotten into the groove of things, but depending on the day things can be rough.
Megan is taking some tough classes -- AP English Literature and Calculus being the toughest. She has a lot more schoolwork during the day and into the evening than Eve and Claire do. She does her hardest to always give 100% - We sometimes have to remind her that 80-90% is acceptable too!
Eve's schedule is a little more laid back. She also likes to be up, dressed and ready to go by 7:30 so she gets a lot done early. It drives her crazy when teachers don't post things until 9 am, because she was ready to get things done at 7:30! She's in a foods class and we've enjoyed all the yummy food she's made for us (pizza bites, gumbo, chicken soup, pretzels, 2 fun salads -- just to name a few!)
Claire's teachers have been the most consistent in posting materials and checking up on the students. I'm impressed that as a 7th grader how well Claire stays up on all her work, corresponds with the teachers, and gets things done well.
Doing online school isn't ideal-- the girls miss the fun of school friends and sociality, but we are blessed to have girls that are capable of managing their time, capable of learning in an online setting, and motivated to do well. We are also blessed that I am able to be home with them to help when needed, but mostly to be their sounding board when they need to vent a little.
On to Term 2!
