Nice while it lasted

A 10 year old girl in our neighborhood left a playmate's house and on her way home got distracted by other kids and didn't go straight home.  Her mother had called me to see if we had seen her as she sometimes stops here to play.  We hadn't, so I sent Eve and Megan to walk around the block to see if they could see her.  They did and sent her home.

Megan asked:  if I were lost, what would you do?  Would you send somebody to find me or would you just let it drop?

Me:  I would say, it was good while it lasted...

Megan (smiling):  At least you thought it was good.
